Buescher finds bright side in finish at Sonoma Raceway

Chris Buescher in Sonoma

The first trip to Sonoma Raceway for NASCAR Sprint Cup rookie Chris Buescher could be summed up this way: (He) kept 'em on the pavement all day.

That's what Front Row Motorsports tweeted after Sunday's Toyota Save Mart 350 in California. Buescher drove the #34 Love's Ford Fusion to a 30th place finish, and he said the restarts toward the end of the race impacted his finish.

"The last couple restarts we were just in the wrong place, wrong time. Kind of the storyline for the year. We made some headway in the middle of the race. We just lost a lot of track position on those late restarts," Buescher said.

Tony Stewart won the race ahead of Denny Hamlin, and while Buescher wasn't in the mix for a win, there was a bright side.

"Our Love's Travel Stops Ford Fusion isn't too beat up. We stayed on track, which is good for your first race here," he said.

Off the track, Chris Buescher is a big hit with fans wherever he goes. Prior to Sunday's race, he met with some kids from a local Boys & Girls Club.

Buescher is back to work this week with a trip to Daytona for the Coke Zero 400 on July 2.
